The Code of Conduct for the College of Business, subscribed to by all members of the College of Business Community, is intended to support and implement the values held by the College. Those values encompass the pursuit of excellence in teaching, learning and scholarship. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
This document seeks to provide the students and faculty of the College of Business with the school's policies on professional conduct and academic integrity. These policies operate within the general outline of the standards, procedures and requirements of Oregon State University's rules and regulations. The safety of the members of the College of Business is a paramount concern of the College. Violence, threats and physical intimidation is never acceptable. If the well being of an instructor, staff or student is threatened or harm is imminent the Oregon State Police will be immediately called (7-7000) and the individual removed. After the incident the instructor will notify the appropriate department chair, Dean's office and the Office of Student Conduct, and provide information about the incident and any witnesses.

Disciplinary Procedure and Process
Should an instructor conclude that academic dishonesty has occurred the instructor may:
-
document the incident
-
permit the accused student to offer an explanation
-
advise the student of possible penalties
-
take action deemed appropriate by the instructor after consulting with his or her department chair and informing the student of the action
-
the instructor must file the standard incident reporting form and the action taken with his or her department chair who shall forward the report to his or her Dean
If the student admits the alleged violation of the Code of Conduct or fails to object in writing within five working days from the date of notice of the instructor's determination that such violation has occurred, or the matter has been conclusively resolved by the Standing Appeals Committee, the Dean's office will forward a report of the incident to the Office of Student Conduct. If the student is not enrolled in the College of Business the Dean's Office of the College of Business will forward a report of the incident to the Dean of the college or school in which the student is enrolled. If the student contests the allegations or penalties no reports will issue from the College of Business until the student's appeal rights within the College of Business have been fully exhausted.
If the accused student contests the instructor's conclusion that a violation of the Code of Conduct has occurred or the appropriateness of the penalty imposed by the instructor, the student may appeal the action to the appropriate department chair for review. If, after departmental chair review, the student requests in writing further review of the process the appeal will be made to the Standing Appeals Committee. The petition for review must be filed with the Dean's Office within five working days after conclusion of the department chair review and notice to the student of the results of that review. The review petition must state with specificity the nature of the procedural irregularity claimed by the student. Three of the five members of the committee, one selected by the student, will review the process to ensure that all administrative procedures have been fulfilled. If the three-member review committee determines by a majority vote that a violation of the process has occurred, all prior actions of the instructor, chairs and dean are voided and the process starts anew. If the three member review committee finds by a majority vote no violation of process, the matter will be treated as conclusively resolved by the College of Business. |
