Oregon State University's Austin Family Business Program and Students in Free Enterprise are inviting college students from across Oregon to attend the Family Business Student-to-Student Conference on Saturday, March 8, on the OSU campus.

The Austin Entrepreneurship Program Hosts the Inaugural New Enterprise Challenge:
For the first time campus-wide at Oregon State University, students will compete in a business plan competition, called the 2008 New Enterprise Challenge. Hosted by the Austin Entrepreneurship Program, the event started on Jan. 15 and continues through March. Full story...

Online Business and Entrepreneurship Courses Provide Enrichment for Professionals, Students Alike:
Oregon State University Extended Campus (Ecampus) and the OSU College of Business have launched a new online minor in Business and Entrepreneurship that offers a comprehensive series of courses to provide flexible learning options for both undergraduates and working professionals. Full story...

OSU Accounting and Management Information Systems Receive Prestigious Certification: The Information Systems Audit and Control Association has certified Oregon State University's Accounting and Management Information Systems curriculum, making the program one of only five higher learning institutions in the country and one of only 12 in the world to offer this certification. A team of four accounting students from Oregon State University's College of Business won first prize in the recent 2008 Berntson Porter/University of Washington Master of Professional Accounting Tax Competition in Seattle. Full story...

Accounting Graduate Wins Bronze Medal on CPA Exam:
College of Business graduate Steve Sharpe received the third highest score on the 2007 CPA exam in the State of Oregon. Sharpe, who earned his degree in accountancy with an option in finance last year, was among more than 1300 test takers. Full story ...

Business Student to Undergo Internship with Citigroup:
Jonathan Moravec, a junior majoring in business with a finance option, was selected to participate in a ten-week summer internship program with Citigroup. He was one of 35 students to receive an internship and competed against 2200 applicants, many from Ivy-league schools. Full story...

College of Business Students Present Marketing Plan to Local Enterprise: Graduate students in BA516, Essentials of Management and Marketing, tested their business acumen while presenting a marketing plan to Animal Crackers Pet Supply. Cellen Coakley, Giang Dang, Cheri Hahn, and Michelle Funk had only four weeks to formulate a marketing strategy and present recommendations to the Corvallis-based pet supply store. Full story...

King to Deliver Presentation on Mobile Commerce Privacy Issues at Portland State University:
Business law professor Nancy King will be the featured speaker at Portland State University's Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) in February 2009. Her presentation, titled "Data Privacy Law and Mobile Commerce," is part of the ETM's technology management seminar series for technology managers, scholars and graduate students and is open to the public. Business Research Team Receives AT&T Environmental Fellowship Grant: Business faculty Zhaohui Wu of Oregon State University, Jacob Park of Green Mountain College, and Joseph Sarkis of Clark University received a $25,000 grant from AT&T’s Industrial Ecology Faculty Fellowship program. The award will support the team’s project, "Understanding Business and Environmental Value Opportunities in the Global Supply Chain of China's Information and Communication Technology Industry," which looks at end-of-life waste management regulations and practices in China’s telecommunications sector. Accounting Faculty Honored with Student Learning and Success Teamwork Award: Oregon State University selected College of Business accounting faculty Monica Banyi, Amy Bourne, Carol Brown, Larry Brown, Dennis Caplan, Roger Graham, Byron Marshall, and Jared Moore to receive the Student Learning and Success Teamwork Award. The award was presented at the 2008 University Day held on September 18. The team received $5,000 that will go toward supporting student learning and success activities. Full story...
