BA 463, Family Business Management Course
The Austin Family Business Program offers a four-credit family business management course at OSU for undergraduate and graduate students.
Course Description The Family Business Management Course, BA 463, addresses aspects of managing an established family business, on a day-to-day basis and planning for succession to the next generation: values, life cycles, marketing strategies, succession, conflict resolution, communications, legal and financial aspects, estate planning, governance and philanthropy.
Family business issues of new companies are a small part of the course content; this is not a course in entrepreneurship or in small business management, and is not immediately relevant for students who want to start their own companies.

Admission Requirements Senior or graduate students from all colleges are eligible. The course is designed for students from or interested in family business. Permission of instructor is based on an application. The course is open to business owners on a non-credit, space-available basis.

Teaching Format The classroom employs video, audio, photographs and slides, faculty and guest lectures, and class discussion.
