MassMutual Financial Group pays tribute to the best in family business by sponsoring since 1993 its annual National Family Business of the Year Award program. Three categories are awarded based on the number of full-time employees: small (under 50 employees), medium (51-250 employees), and large (more than 250 employees). Each business is recognized for withstanding the tests of successful enterprises: competitive marketplaces, choosy customers, challenging family dynamics, industry regulations, changes in economic climate, demands of the business, long hours, and more. Each business has also faced these tests across generations. To be nominated for the Nationals, a business must be a U.S. or Puerto Rican for-profit company, in business for at least 25 years with a minimum of two generations working in the business, have a succession plan in place for the next generation, and have a great story to tell about overcoming adversity.
The Austin Family Business Program has nominated businesses for this prestigious national award from among its annual Oregon Family Business Award winners, and AFBP is pleased to announce that these outstanding Oregon Family Businesses have won National Award recognition:
