Experiential learning and career planning are key to finding a job after graduation. Our recent graduates verify this saying that internships, club professional networking opportunities, and participation in career days put them ahead of the pack in embarking on their career path.
The College of Business offers a variety of opportunities to explore different type of jobs in your chosen field, interact with business professionals, apply for internships and pursue career opportunities. Keep an eye out for the College of Business MBA Career Forum, Creating Career Confidence, Accounting Meet the Firms, MIS Career Forum and more. In addition, OSU sponsors Career Fairs every term and all students are welcome to participate.
Internship, professional employment and part-time employment postings are listed regularly on the web site and e-mail alerts keep you informed of new opportunities. To prepare for an interview, many COB classes and Student Services and Career Planning programs provide helpful resume, mock interview and other job tips. Each week, COB sends out to subscribers electronic copies of the newsletter COBJOBInfo with updates, resources and articles related to jobs and internships. Read a sample here. If you wish to receive COBJOBInfo, subscribe here.
Employers wishing to connect with COB students have several options:
1. Post internship/job positions online with College of Business by using the Intern/Job Posting Form. Positions will be posted on our website and notices sent out weekly to students via COBJOBInfo newsletter.
2. Participate in Alpha Kappa Psi (AKP) Mock Interviews. Each term AKP and the College of Business host a mock interview event. Although the primary purpose of the all day event is academic in nature, it is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of your organization among the student population. If interested in participating, please email Nancy Homan. Dates for 09-10 are as follows:
winter term: February 18, 2010 spring term: May 7, 2010 fall term: November 19, 2010
3. Facilitate a Professional Development Workshop. More information on the workshops including scheduling and facilities can be found here...
If your organization is new to internships and needs assistance on how to establish one, please refer to this guide.
