Entrepreneurship Minor: The Entrepreneurship minor teaches you to recognize business opportunities, equips you with skills to secure funding, and provides insight on how to manage a new venture. Fundamental business classes are combined with those designed to specifically address the challenges of launching a new business. With an innovative curriculum taught by dedicated professors, the entrepreneurship minor provides a fundamental stepping stone on the road to new enterprise. Minor GPA requirements, Required Classes, Prerequisite Classes

Courses include:

  • Introduction to Entrepreneurship
  • Business Law
  • Money & Investment Management
  • Venture Finance: exploring issues facing new businesses & methods to obtain resources
  • Venture Management: investigating start-up planning & productivity development
  • New Venture Lab: creating a fully functioning business plan

Who can be an Entrepreneurship minor?
To be an Entrepreneurship minor, you need to satisfy the following requirements:

  • Prequisite classes: MTH 111 & ECON 201 (see below for more information).
  • Prerequisite GPA: Complete prerequisite classes with GPA of at least 2.50.
  • Entrepreneurship minor GPA:OSU classes taken from the required minor classes must average at least 2.50.
  • Overall Business GPA: OSU grades of all prerequisites to minor courses, required minor courses & all other completed BA courses, must average at least 2.50.
  • Good standing: Your last term at OSU and cumulative OSU GPAs must be at least 2.0.
  • Cleared deficiencies: If you were previously suspended from the College of Business, you must remove all the grade deficiencies for which you were suspended.

Prerequisite Classes
Students seeking to minor in Entrepreneurship must complete the following courses before taking any minor courses:

MTH 111 College Algebra
ECON 201 Microeconomics

The minor assumes familiarity with computerized word processing, spreadsheets and database management. Students without such preparation should take BA 131, CS 101 or a similar course.

Entrepreneurship Minor: Required Classes (28 credits)

Students minoring in entrepreneurship are required to take the following classes:

REQUIRED:

BA 215 Money & Investment Management (4) (Prereq: Sophomore standing)
BA 230 Business Law (4) (Prereq: Sophomore standing)
BA 260 Introduction to Entrepreneurship (4) (Prereq: Sophomore standing)

BA 360 Venture Finance (4) (Prereq: Junior standing, BA 215 and ECON 201)

BA 390 Marketing (4) (Prereq: Junior standing, ECON 201)

BA 460 Venture Management (4) (Prereq: Senior standing, BA 340 or 360, BA 390)

BA 467 New Venture Lab (4) (Prereq: Senior standing, BA 460)

NOTE 1: STUDENTS MAY COMPLETE BOTH MINORS. BA 215 (OR BA 211/213) WILL COUNT FOR BOTH MINORS.

  • BA MINOR: complete BA 215, BA 347 (Prereq: ECON 202), BA 350, BA 357 (Prereq: BA 275) plus two 400-level BA courses (other than BA 460 and 467)
  • E MINOR: complete BA 215, BA 230, BA 260, BA 360, BA 390, BA 460, and BA 467

NOTE 2: STUDENTS PLANNING TO PURSUE AN O.S.U. M.B.A. SHOULD DISCUSS FOUNDATION COURSE SELECTIONS WITH A BUSINESS ADVISOR.

GPA Requirements

  • All courses must be taken for a letter grade (A-F).
  • A minimum 2.5 GPA is required for the 28 minor credits.
  • A minimum 2.50 GPA is required for all 400-level course work taken in the College.
  • Only OSU grades are counted in the 2.50 GPA.
  • If you repeat a class at OSU, only the last grade earned will be used to compute your business minor GPA.
  • If you repeat a class off campus, the grade earned will not be used to compute your business minor GPA. The grade used will be the last grade earned at OSU.
  • All course work (prerequisite and required) in the minor for which a "W" or grades of "A-F" are received may be repeated only once.
