Housing

Temporary housing ... Off-campus housing ... Campus housing

Temporary housing

Exchange studentsMost motels in Corvallis are approximately 1-4 kilometers from campus. For a complete listing of Corvallis accommodations, visit the Corvallis Convention and Visitor's Bureau website. When you make a reservation, ask about possible weekly discounts and let them know you are an OSU student.

A three-day Home Stay through Crossroads International (a volunteer community group) provides an opportunity for students to be guests in Corvallis area homes. If you would like to participate, please contact Marybeth Trevino. Be sure to apply early because space is limited.

Off-campus housing

Quad Living: You can rent one bedroom in a 4 bedroom unit or "quad". You have your own bedroom, share a bathroom with one other person, and share the kitchen and common room areas with all other occupants.

Free household goods:

Household items are available in Bexell Hall 214 for your use. Students have left items that include: kitchen equipment, dishes, blankets, pillows, lamps, telephones. Our inventory changes each year.

Please clean and return them at the end of the term!

Apartments, rooms or houses: You can rent a private room, house or apartment in Corvallis. Enrollment is high at OSU, and suitable apartments are becoming more difficult to find. There is no guarantee that you will be able to find something after you arrive on campus. Please make your housing plans BEFORE you arrive. NOTE: FURNISHED APARTMENTS ARE EXTREMELY RARE IN CORVALLIS.

Contact information for some local apartments is listed below For more information on renting, please see the advertisements in the Corvallis Gazette-Times or go to www.rent.com. These are usually unfurnished and further away from campus. Be warned that many places will not want to rent out for only 3 months.

This list is for informational purposes only and is NOT an endorsement or recommendation of these particular apartment buildings.

Sub-let a room: You can sub-let housing from an OSU student going to study in your country. You can rent their space for three months. If you are interested, please email Carol Leder. She will attempt to put you in touch with an OSU student who wants to rent to exchange students. (Note: Carol will not negotiate your rent or solve leasing problems. Her role is to provide names of interested parties only!)

Campus housing

If you choose to live on campus, you should apply online for dormitory housing. You will need an OSU student identification number to do so. The College of Business can provide this number to you once you have been admitted to OSU for the exchange program. The $45 application fee will be charged to your student account, and you will be expected to pay this fee upon your arrival here at OSU.

Bexell Hall at nightMeal plans: If you live on campus, you must sign up for a meal plan. You cannot cook in your rooms. Meal plans work like a debit balance account-essentially a prepaid credit card. You will have a specified amount of meal credit money to use at all campus dining facilities. Your total meal credit for the term shows on your meal card at the beginning of the term, and you "buy" your meals and snacks from this amount. You can add more meal credit dollars to your account if you run low. Your student ID card is your meal card.
