VISA Tip

VISA Tip:

Ok, so you've made it.  Congratulations!  When you passed through customs at Hong Kong International Airport the customs officer should have stamped "Student Permitted to Remain" or something to that effect on the Hong Kong Student Visa in your passport.  If this didn't happen, you're going to have to leave the country and reenter in the next 30 days and make sure it gets stamped when you come back in.  Leaving the country can be as simple as crossing the boarder into Shenzhen or going to spend a weekend on Macau Island.

What's so great about this "Student Permitted to Remain" stamp on your Hong Kong Student Visa is that this combination makes you an honorary Hong Kong resident!  So when you want to go through customs points in MTR / KCR stations, or ferry terminals in Hong Kong, or the Hong Kong International Airport you can go through the Residents lines rather than the Visitors lines.  The residents customs lines are typically shorter and much faster!
