Director of Marketing

Description:
As a critical member of the enrollment management team, the Director of Marketing is responsible for marketing strategies, development of print collateral, and online outreach and image development to attract a diverse and broad pool of students for the educational programs of the School for International Training/World Learning. The director will function in an educational setting and incorporate academic positioning, student life issues, and the role of financial aid into successful marketing efforts. The director supervises the daily operations of the marketing unit in support of the SIT's strategic plan and is deeply engaged with all recruitment and admissions units to build best practices in marketing efforts under the guidance and leadership of the Dean for External Relations and Strategic Enrollment Management. The director supervises a staff of two and brings an innovative approach to the visual representations of the programs through advertising, print publications, the institutional website, social networking, and other electronic strategies. The director will be data-driven in developing strategies and ensures tracking of information and trends to measure effectiveness of various marketing approaches in meeting enrollment targets.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement innovative and effective strategies for program marketing and student recruitment
• Plan and execute strategic advertising campaigns and use of directories to maximize exposure
• Develop and implement program-specific marketing plans
• Design marketing methods for social networking tools and other new and emerging technologies to support recruitment efforts
• Oversee content development for institutional websites and print publications so that programs are presented in an accurate and innovative manner
• Remain abreast of marketing developments in international education and among competitor institutions and programs
• Conduct research to target and evaluate effectiveness and return on investment of marketing efforts
• Ensure appropriate and consistent visual representation of SIT/World Learning at conferences, recruitment venues, and other events
• Supervise writer/editor and marketing coordinator
• Serve as a contributing member of the enrollment management team focused on recruitment and achieving enrollment expectations
• Manage marketing budget effectively


Required Experience:
• Six years of professional marketing experience at the associate director or director level, ideally in higher education
• Demonstrated knowledge of and success with marketing in an educational or other nonprofit environment through websites, social networking technologies, on-line promotion and advertising
• Experience using on-line tools for marketing and student recruitment
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making
• Strong writing and editing skills in English, strong visual design background a plus
• Ability to handle multiple assignments, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments involved in recruitment efforts, including information technology.
• Ability to motivate staff and create an effective team environment
• International and intercultural sensibility
• Ability to work effectively with key vendors
• Appreciation of overall SIT/World Learning mission


Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree in related field
