New Business Core Requirements

Business Core Curriculum: 84 credits

The Core Curriculum in Business involves course work in Business, Math, Writing, Communication and Economics. Refer to the Business Core Checklist.
PreBusiness Core (48 credits)
Professional Program (pro-school) Core (36 credits)

Business Discipline: 24-32 credits

Students select an area of specialization within Business from one of the areas listed below. The credits required vary from 24 to 32, depending upon the discipline chosen. All disciplines have required coursework in your junior year.

Accountancy
Entrepreneurship
Finance
International Business (secondary only) 
Management
Information Systems (MIS/BIS)
Marketing 

Baccalaureate: 48 credits

Students must complete 48 credits of Baccalaureate Core (BAC) courses PLUS the Writing Intensive Course (WIC). The WIC course for College of Business students is BA 353, Professional Development, which is completed in the junior year.
An approved list of Baccalaureate Core courses is available in the OSU General Catalog and Schedule of Classes. BAC requirements include:
Skills (15 credits)
Perspectives (24 credits)
Difference, Power and Discrimination (3 credits)
Synthesis (6 credits)

BAC courses which will be satisfied with College of Business requirements include:
Writing II - WR 222. *English Composition (3)
or WR 323. *English Composition (3)
or WR 327. *Technical Writing (3)

Writing III - COMM 111. *Public Speaking (3)
or COMM 114. *Argument and Critical Discourse (3)

Mathematics - MTH 241 or above

Electives

The number of elective credits will vary depending upon the option selected. Students are advised to complete Baccalaureate Core course requirements early in their program and to work with their advisor in computing the number of electives available.

Additional Requirements

Minimum of 60 credits in Upper Division (300-400 level)

Minimum of 180 credits total to graduate

Meet all College of Business Progression standards

Candidates for the B.A. degree must either 1)complete a minor offered by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures or 2) demonstrate language proficiency at 3rd year level AND 3) complete 6 credits of upper division appropriate culture classes OR 4) successfully complete a 10 week study abroad/internship in a non-English speaking foreign country while a student at OSU.
