Management Advisory Council

Overview

Management students in a meetingThe Management curriculum helps prepare students for careers as managers and supervisors in goods-producing and service enterprises. Students obtain a solid grounding in management of systems, personnel, and quality. The integrative focus of the Management program also provides excellent preparation for graduate-level studies in law, urban and regional planning, public services administration, and health care administration.

Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling that encompasses human, material, and financial resources in an organizational environment. A management option means that you have learned the concepts of getting things done through others within organizations.

Curriculum

Your freshman through junior years will be largely confined completing the OSU baccalaureate core and the Business Core (see Requirements.)  These courses are required of all Business students. Management program courses start your junior year. Students should understand the difference between the Management major (pg 1) vs. Management option (pg 2) requirements.  Beginning with winter 2010 all pro school applications will be for the Management major.

Enrichment Activities

Participating in management-specific "enrichment" activities enables you to expand your understanding and build your skills beyond the classroom.  The Management Club hosts a variety of functions that put you face-to-face with potential employers and in the company of fellow management option students and faculty.  Being active in Management Club and other College of Business club activities helps increase the opportunities of finding a job after graduation.
