The Oregon State Investment Group (OSIG) is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to enhance education and career opportunities by providing experience in the operation of an investment management organization. Through valuing companies using various research and analyses techniques, actively managing portfolios, and taking several educational field trips throughout the year, the OSIG awards its members with an extremely valuable and unique experience.
OSIG Mission:
The Oregon State Investment Group (OSIG) provides students the opportunity to participate in the operation of an investment management organization, enhancing the education and career opportunities for member-analysts. OSIG has two primary objectives:
Portfolio Management:
OSIG implements one specific investment strategy in our portfolio: Using a value strategy, the Baker portfolio seeks long-term capital appreciation by focusing on valuation. The portfolio is benchmarked against the S&P 500 index.
Experiential Education:
The group aims to complement classroom education with practical investment experience. Members have the opportunity to establish contacts with the business world while performing an in-depth analysis of a companies investment potential through guest visitors, discussions with corporate management, and interaction with the OSU and OSIG alumni networks.
